ANXIETY

  • ISOLATION
  • NEGATIVE  OR FEARFUL THOUGHTS
  • AVOIDING & PUTTING OFF
  • FEAR & PANIC
  • REPETITIVE THOUGHTS & BEHAVIOR

Anxiety at its best is subtle and annoying, at its worst can be crippling. Whether it be getting in the way a bit, or leaving you feeling helpless and out of control, there is help! Skills can be taught to decrease anxiety.  A therapist can help you identify sources of anxiety and manage your symptoms.

Many of our therapists are trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address negative, fear-based thoughts and corresponding behaviors, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, to assist with tolerating distressing thoughts and feelings, and Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) to address trauma and physical symptoms.

  • ELATED, INFLATED MOOD

Depression affects one's thinking, feelings and behavior.  It is not anyone's fault. It does not represent weakness, a lack of control, or being unable to "get it together".  Occuring on a spectrum that runs from mild to severe with many variations in between, depressive disorders can be triggered by the environment, hereditary and biological factors, or by internal or external stressors.  Depressive disorders can be lethal in their most severe form.

Treatment includes identifying the source of negative thoughts and mood, while supporting a client to gain understanding, insight, and control over their mood, while restoring a positive, healthy sense of themselves and their lives.  Depression often cannot be healed fully on its own.
